Evidence Based Treatment

Dr. Smith draws upon the Psychodynamic and Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT) traditions to tailor treatment to the needs of each client. Her approach is guided by recent research that finds relationship factors to be of primary importance in terms of the success of therapy. In keeping with this research, Dr. Smith provides treatment that is personalized, collaborative, and empathic.

Dr. Smith honors the uniqueness of each client, taking personality traits, conflicts, and quirks into consideration as she tailors the treatment plan. She is attentive to the cultural background, therapy preferences, and attachment style of her clients and is accepting of diverse religious and spiritual beliefs, gender identities and sexual orientations.

Collaborative.

Psychotherapy works best when it involves a two-way relationship. Dr. Smith works collaboratively with clients to identify therapeutic goals and expectations. As treatment progresses, she solicits feedback, making adjustments and fine-tuning the treatment plan.
